Dear Sir/Madam/Other, You are really stupid.

Please don’t take it personally, but you really are.
You with your sincerely held beliefs
and your well-established habits and your tight circle of friends.
You don’t even know it, but you’re just…. you’re just stupid.

But so am I.

We all are.

And we don’t even know it.

Worse, there isn’t much we can do about it. Unless we want to put forth some really hard work.

See, the problem is, we have this set of ‘things’ that we find comfortable.
We have our religious (or anti-religious) beliefs,
we have our favorite foods that we always eat on Tuesdays,
we have our friends that like us
(and who probably have those same beliefs and favorite foods,)
we have our radio stations, we have our TV shows….

we have all these things that we are comfortable with.

And we don’t want to change.

After all, we’re comfortable, why should we?

Because, frankly, ┬áit’s making us stupid.

Without challenging our beliefs,
without trying new things,
without change

we wither. We shrink.
Our world becomes small.

We need to stop being comfortable.
We need to stop existing in our little world.
We need to stop believing that this is all there is.

Only then can we expand our minds,
can we reach out to others,
to other places,
other people,
different things.

Because there is more,
Than our little world,
our little beliefs,
our littlenesss.

Reach, read, grow, expand,
